See BenefitsXCountry: Rampart Rams Shake Things Up: Ditch 'Foxes and Hounds'
Summary of Friday's Race at Cottonwood Creek park.
The Rampart Rams decide to run a traditional race instead of the “Foxes and Hounds” style they've done in the past. This was a bit of disappointment, but the course still provided ample challenge and excitement. Racing against high caliber varsity runners from the likes of Rampart, Mesa Ridge and Cheyenne Mountain, to name a few, pushed us to rise to their level. Unfortunately a school day filled with physical activity and perhaps poor hydration and nutrition left runners feeling tired before the race began. The high heat and sun combined with a deep creek crossing in mile 3 quickly that left their shoes wet and heavy sapped their energy. We did not achieve any PRs/SBs at this race, but heck, neither did the other teams! It was a hard course and we are still almost a month away from our desired peak performance: Regionals. I overheard Owen confidently stating that he's definitely going to PR again before the season is over because we still have more time to train AND, more time to rest as our next two races are more spread out. I'm excited and confident for some big gains in our future. We'll definitely see if if we keep working hard, focusing on our goals, and pushing ourselves to our limits. Let's go Kodiaks!
